Pepatah ini sederhana saja, ‘sedikit demi sedikit, lama-lama menjadi bukit’. Kita bisa memaknainya, bahwa bila kita mengumpulkan sesen demi sesen, pada saatnya kita akan mendapatkan sepundi. Namun sesungguhnya pepatah ini tak sekedar berbicara tentang hemat, atau ketekunan menabung.
Pepatah ini menyiratkan tentang sesuatu yang lebih berharga dari sekedar sekantung keping uang, yaitu : bila kita mampu mengumpulkan kebaikan dalam setiap tindakan-tindakan kecil kita, maka kita akan dapati kebesaran dalam jiwa kita.
Bagaimanakah tindakan-tindakan kecil itu mencerminkan kebesaran jiwa sangpemiliknya, yitu, bila disertai dengan secercah kasih sayang di dalamnya. Ucapan terima kasih, sesungging senyum, sapaan ramah, atau pelukan bersahabat, adalah tindakan yang mungkin sepele saja. Namun dalam liputan kasih sayang, ia jauh lebih tinggi daripada bukit tabungan anda.
